Who Dey Revolution Manifesto

  • Preamble

    IN THIS TIME of perpetual Cincinnati Bengals incompetence and futility, with zero playoff wins in the seventeen seasons since the WhoDeyRevolution Godfather, Paul Brown, passed away in 1991 and handed the team to his fortunate son, the Despot, Mike Brown;

    Introduction

    WE, the members of the Who Dey Revolution, in our fervent dedication to the Cincinnati Bengals and fanatical desire to transform our hometown team into perpetual Super Bowl contenders, call for a popular revolution of fans to demand comprehensive reform to the managerial decisions and approach of Cincinnati Bengals ownership, management, staff and players, and hereby call for the adoption of the following Who Dey Revolution Manifesto:

    Manifesto Demands

    THAT the Mike Brown, Katie Blackburn, Marvin Lewis, along with every other member of the Bengals management, staff and personnel, state publicly to all Bengals fans, “I will do everything in my power to help the Cincinnati Bengals win a Super Bowl;”

    THAT Mike Brown will hire a general manager, drastically expand the scouting department and relinquish all control of player personnel;

    THAT all training, rehabilitation and medical facilities are considered best-in-class compared to other NFL teams;

    THAT the management fill the team only with players who fit the system, both mentally and physically, and are not reluctant to makes changes to player personnel when needed, regardless of cost or loyalty concerns;

    THAT offensive and defensive line depth is considered the top priority for all player personnel decisions;

    THAT all decisions made by ownership, management, staff and players, both on and off the field, are judged only by this criterion: “Does this help the Cincinnati Bengals win a Super Bowl?”

Recycled Bengals News

Two possible big developments in Bengaldom today.  First, Boone County's favorite son Shaun Alexander has scheduled a visit with the Bengals following his release from the Seahawks.  Second, oft-troubled Ahmed Brooks has been accused of hitting a woman - in the face.

Shaun_alex The potential Shaun Alexander signing has the stench of Sam Adams and Dexter Jackson all over it - an aging star who the Bengals sign to address a glaring weakness.  Bengals fans get excited because of the aging star's history but the results do not warrant the optimism.

For #37 specifically, this seems to be a different scenario.  Adams and Jackson were both signed with the intention to be the immediate starter.  When they didn't produce, there was no plan B.  If the Bengals signed Shaun, they could enter camp with a real competition for the standard 3 RB Bengals roster spots between Rudi, Chris Perry, Kenny Irons, DeDe Dorsey and Kenny Watson.  Stay tuned to see how the situation develops...

If the Ahmed Brooks accusation is true, then the Keith Rivers pick ends up making much more sense.  Maybe Mike Brown knew that he couldn't count on Odell or Ahmed so was planning to take Rivers all along?  Hard to believe when the Bengals turn around and take Shirley in the 5th. Either way, if the charges do stick, Ahmed will hopefully go the way of Chris Henry.  I wonder when the Bengals are going to stop being in the news for this nonsense.

Doubtful that Kenny Irons will be ready to start the season so he'll probably be on the PUP list. I say bring alexander in if he wants to compete for the starting job in training camp, he's worth at least looking at.
